"I did give some thought to changing it this year. And the NBA told me I couldn’t because I was in the top 75 of jersey sales” -- Bulls G Alex Caruso, on wearing No. 6, which was retired league-wide in honor of Bill Russell. Caruso said he would look to change numbers after this season (NBCSPORTSCHICAGO.com, 9/28).

“Big Ten facilities” -- UConn men’s hockey coach Mike Cavanaugh, on a group of new on-campus venues including the Toscano Family Ice Center, which will host the team when it opens in January (HARTFORD COURANT, 9/28).

“I know this, and 1% is a joke” -- Former Ukrainian weightlifter Sergei Putsov, on WADA’s most recent published numbers stated there is a just over 1% positive drug test result among weightlifters. Putsov claims there is near universal PED use in his sport (“Real Sports,” HBO, 9/27).

“The LIV Golf tour: finally, an answer to the question, is there any way possible to make golfers even less likeable? Oh, did a bunch of entitled country club members decide to follow the money? I would say I’m shocked, but golf is the only sport with multiple athletes whose last name is ‘the third’” -- NBC’s Seth Meyers (“Late Night,” NBC, 9/27).
