Live From Tokyo: L.A. touted as "Games-ready"

TOKYO -- IOC members today saw presentations from organizing committees for upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in ‘22, ’24, ’26 and ‘28. LA28 was represented by Chair Casey Wasserman, CRO Kathy Carter and COO John Harper. “L.A. is a Games-ready city,” said Wasserman, who added that the intention is “to host a fiscally responsible and sustainable Games.” Carter spoke about the importance of athletes as a “north star” for LA28’s efforts. She also discussed some of the organizing committee’s early achievements, including new sponsor deals and the landmark IOC hospitality restructuring. Carter said that will allow the organizing committee to “tell the most robust stories across our country and begin to engage the next generation of fans, which we believe will be one of the lasting legacies of the 2028 Games.”

Meanwhile, IOC Exec Board member and LA28 coordination commission head Nicole Hoevertsz was elected IOC VP. She replaces U.S. IOC member Anita DeFrantz, who is completing her second four-year term in the role.
