Phoenix Mercury To Play WNBA Season At Renovated Suns Arena

The WNBA Phoenix Mercury confirmed that they will "play their silver anniversary season at the newly-renovated Phoenix Suns Arena, provided the WNBA is able to compete in local markets instead of a bubble." Before the pandemic, the Mercury "planned to play last season and if necessary in 2021 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum due to the renovation work." But because of an "expedited construction timeline" for the $230M renovation, the Suns Arena is more than 80% complete and available for the Mercury's 25th season. The WNBA has "not announced definite plans for the upcoming season" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 2/10).
