CFP Planning To Keep Semifinal Game At Rose Bowl, For Now

The CFP is "expected to keep one of its two semifinal games at the Rose Bowl as scheduled, but is hoping that the California government will ease its COVID-19 stadium restrictions and allow players' families to attend the game." CFP Exec Dir Bill Hancock said in a statement, "We continue to hope that the Rose Bowl's appeal to government officials to allow the families of student-athletes to attend will be permitted." The CFP management committee held a videoconference last night to discuss the Rose Bowl, with Hancock telling reporters, "Given the realities of 2020, we always reserve the right to make decisions as late as possible." Asked if Dallas could be an alternative location, Hancock said, "I'm not going to speculate about that, but we will be prepared" (ESPN.com, 12/15).
