Grizzlies' City Uniform Honors Memphis Icon Isaac Hayes

The Grizzlies will "honor Memphis native and music icon Isaac Hayes with their 'Soul City Edition' jerseys this season." A digital video trailer announcing the look, uses Hayes' classic "Theme from Shaft," while NBA Rookie of the Year Ja Morant wears the jersey. The uniforms also "pay tribute to Stax Records as they are black with vertical stripes resembling grooves on Stax's vinyl records." Gold lettering and turquoise trim are "inspired by Hayes' famed 1972 Cadillac El Dorado" The turquoise "MG" pattern is "inspired by African Kente cloth, which the team said honored Hayes' fashion and social activism." The shorts have a "Stax logo and small sunglasses" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 11/25).

Meanwhile, the Pacers are only "teasing the release" of their City Edition uniform with the #PowerINPinstripes hashtag on social media, but there reportedly "has been a sighting" of the latest look (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 11/25).
