EPL Clubs Reject "Project Big Picture," Pursue Other Reforms

EPL clubs have "unanimously agreed" that "Project Big Picture" will not be "endorsed or pursued," rejecting the controversial plans at a meeting of all 20 EPL clubs yesterday. Instead, clubs agreed to "work together" on a new plan for the "financing of English football." The clubs also decided on a US$65M rescue package for League One (third-tier) and League Two (fourth-tier) teams at the meeting. "Project Big Picture" would have seen more power transferred to the so-called "big six" EPL clubs (BBC.com, 10/14). Earlier Wednesday, U.K. Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden labeled EFL Chair Rick Parry’s proposal "project power grab" (PA, 10/14).
