Larry Tanenbaum Highlights Virtual Sports Business Awards

The Sports Business Awards were held virtually last night for the first time in their history, and it was a night to remember. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Chair Larry Tanenbaum was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and was introduced by three commissioners: MLS' Don Garber, the NHL's Gary Bettman and the NBA's Adam Silver. Tanenbaum in his acceptance speech noted the sports industry has an opportunity to "overcome the effects of the coronavirus pandemic but also, more importantly, the right for racial equality in our society." Tanenbaum: "It is more than an opportunity. It is our responsibility."

Other winners from last night included ESPN's Jimmy Pitaro (Sports Executive of the Year), MLS (Sports League of the Year) and the Blues (Sports Team of the Year) for their Stanley Cup win in June of '19. Team IMPACT won special recognition with Celebration of Service Award. See a full roundup of the event in THE DAILY.
