Warriors' Education Program Centers Around Local Business

The Warriors and Chase have launched the Financial Gameplan: Small Business Impact series, a seven-week educational program to build a business plan for a locally owned business. This program will divide students into small groups to develop business operations and marketing based on real challenges faced by Ahmed’s Moving Express. This is the second iteration of the program that was launched in January.

Warriors Senior VP/Partnerships Mike Kitts said, “The mission didn’t change, which is invest in kids and create trajectory, but the evolution takes place when you are able to channel those and maybe you can provide an equity lens. The subject matter changes. In this case, we’ve added in the opportunity to apply this to a minority-owned business. The program may look a little different in a non-COVID scenario, we had to evolve it again.”

At the conclusion of the program, the students will pitch their business plans to a panel of judges, including Warriors players and execs, who will determine a winner. Among those who will participate are Warriors Chief Legal Officer, Business & Basketball David Kelly, Senior VP/Marketing Jen Millet, CFO Jennifer Cabalquinto and Chase execs who will serve as mentors. Three Warriors players, including G Damion Lee, also will be on the judging panel.
