Malcolm Jenkins Talks Empty NFL Stadiums, Film Projects

Saints S Malcolm Jenkins appeared on NBC’s “Late Night,” where he said playing in front of no fans as the NFL season begins is “weird.” Jenkins: “The first couple drives felt very much like a practice or a scrimmage. They talk about having crowd noise pumped in that’s about 70 decibels. It sounds like somebody’s vacuuming the stadium, that’s how loud it was.” Jenkins had initially expressed concern about playing this season amid the pandemic, but “there has been a lot of ground that’s been made up since the spring." Jenkins: "A lot of it was negotiated between our player union and the league, and I think we've gotten to a point where guys feel comfortable. We’re getting tested every day.”

Jenkins also talked about being exec producer of the documentary, “Black Boys,” streaming on Peacock. Jenkins said for the film, he was initially supposed to "just be interviewed." Jenkins said the project is “celebrating who we are as ‘black boys,’ and I’m really excited to do the same kind of project with black girls.” Host Seth Meyers said, “You are definitely as adept a producer as you are a football player and an activist. There’s got to be something you’re not good at” (“Late Night,” NBC, 9/14).
