A proposed Clippers arena "moved closer to reality" after Inglewood’s City Council "unanimously approved the sale of 13 parcels of publicly owned land to the developers." Murphy’s Bowl LLC, the Clippers-controlled company leading the project, said the $66.25M it is paying for the land will be shared among the city, Federal Aviation Administration, L.A. World Airports and "other local entities." Construction on the $1.8B arena complex is planned to begin by the "middle of 2021 in order to open on time for the 2024-25 NBA season." The Clippers also created a "wait list for future season tickets" (L.A. TIMES, 9/9).
Elsewhere, the nonprofit overseer of development along central Philadelphia’s Delaware River waterfront "could decide" as soon as today on a "bidder to remake Penn’s Landing into a new district of apartment towers, shops, restaurants, and -- possibly -- a new arena for the 76ers." The Delaware River Waterfront Corp BOD plans to vote on a developer "after hearing presentations for the site and fielding public comments" beginning this morning (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 9/9).
