USA Triathlon Awards $110,000 For Coronavirus Relief

USA Triathlon has awarded more than $110,000 in COVID-19 relief grants to 40 race directors, event organizers and certified clubs and coaches. The money was raised via the NGB’s five-week virtual duathlon, which ran through May 17 and attracted more than 6,000 participants. The fundraising includes $10,000 from USA Triathlon CEO Rocky Harris and his wife, Elizabeth, and another $10,000 from the NGB and its foundation’s boards.

NGB leadership selected grant recipients through an application process. USA Triathlon received 173 applications and total requests of some $866,000 in funding. Selected grant recipients include the Bronx-based TriLatino Triathlon Club, the Maine Cancer Foundation and the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Also among the groups receiving grants are three NCAA emerging sport for women programs at Arizona State, Northern Vermont and Davis & Elkin College.
