Cameron Champ Is Second PGA Tour Player To Test Positive

Golfer Cameron Champ is the second PGA Tour player to test positive for COVID-19, following Nick Watney last week. While Watney's test came after the first round of the RBC Heritage, Champ's result came during screening ahead of this week’s Travelers Championship “conducted with all participating players and caddies” (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 6/23). Meanwhile, Ken Comboy, the caddie for Graeme McDowell, also has tested positive. Champ and McDowell will withdraw from the Travelers, though McDowell “tested negative on Monday and has shown no symptoms” (GOLFWEEK.com, 6/23).

Golfer Jordan Spieth yesterday confirmed that the PGA Tour “will make adjustments to health & safety protocols” following Watney's positive test. He hinted at “extra testing, mandatory test for anyone within 6 feet of someone who tests positive” and other changes. Those changes could be announced today (TWITTER.com, 6/23).
