Warriors Form COVID-19 Impact Strategy Around Charity Efforts

The Warriors are consolidating their pandemic community outreach into a new COVID-19 Impact Strategy initiative as the organization boosts its coronavirus-related charitable efforts. “Our COVID-19 Impact Strategy allows us to listen to the needs of Bay Area residents and respond with immediate support, while proactively collaborating with our civic, nonprofit, and corporate partners to design effective solutions moving forward,” said Warriors President & COO Rick Welts.

The initiative has four main components. The gameday employee and part-time worker support component now includes a $1.5M payment fund. The healthcare and front-line worker pillar, in partnership with Anheuser-Busch, has generated funds added to a program to create 50,000 masks for healthcare workers. The community support area has distributed funds to food banks and student meal programs. Finally, the initiative's focus on education support includes a Warriors Community Foundation $500,000 grant that is split between eight Bay Area youth basketball educational nonprofits. An additional $250,000 has been given to local school districts for computers to be given to students.
