McIlroy, Fowler Among Golfers In Skins Game For Charity

Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson will face off against Rickie Fowler and Matt Wolff in a skins match on May 17 at the Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla. The PGA Tour, NBC Sports and Sky Sports are behind “TaylorMade Driving Relief,” which pledges to raise up to $3M for the UnitedHealth Group, with McIlroy and Johnson playing for the American Nurses Foundation and Oklahoma State alums Fowler and Wolff playing for the CDC Foundation. The PGA Tour and NBC scheduled their match one week before TNT runs a similar concept with Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning facing off against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in “The Match: Champions for Charity.”

Farmers Insurance pledged $1M for Off Their Plate, a charity set up to help COVID-19 healthcare workers. PGA Tour Charities will set up Text-To-Donate and online donations through GoFund Me. The foursome, all of whom have TaylorMade as a sponsor, will follow social distancing guidelines during the match, scheduled for 2:00-6:00pm ET. It will be carried by NBC, Golf Channel, NBCSN and Sky Sports. It will be streamed via PGA Tour Live, GolfPass, GolfChannel.com and GolfTV. The PGA Tour said other global media partners also will carry it. Mike Tirico will call the match from his home in Michigan, while Paul Azinger, Gary Koch and Rich Lerner will call it from an off-site production facility. Jerry Foltz and Steve Sands will be on-course reporters.
