Roger Goodell Says NFL Draft Will Remain Next Month

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell yesterday said that the Draft "will go on as originally scheduled for next month." Goodell sent a memo to all teams stating that “'public health conditions are highly uncertain' and there was no guarantee of significant improvement by moving it to a later date as reasons for not moving the date of the draft." The event, which will be held April 23-25, "will be scaled down and 'televised in a way that reflects current conditions'" (AP, 3/26). In Goodell’s memo that the Draft will go on, he "served warning to those around the league that criticize the league’s stance." Goodell wrote, “Public discussion of issues relating to the draft serves no useful purpose and is grounds for disciplinary action" (TWITTER.com, 3/26).
