Soccer Matches In England Could Be Played In Empty Venues

All soccer matches in England "will be played behind closed doors under government plans to combat coronavirus that could be triggered as early as today." The current season "will not be postponed." EPL individual and season-ticket holders "will be able to stream coverage of matches into their homes." The plan "may be implemented once the number of U.S. coronavirus cases passes 500." It stood at 460 last night. The government "has been in discussion" with the EPL, Football League and Football Association (LONDON TIMES, 3/12).

Serie A club Juventus announced that D Daniele Rugani "tested positive for coronavirus." He is the "first player from the club to test positive." All Italian sport "has been suspended until April 3 because of the outbreak" (London INDEPENDENT, 3/12).
