StubHub Partners With Affirm To Create New Payment Option

StubHub is partnering with Affirm, a financial tech company that provides point-of-sale loans to consumers. Starting today, Affirm will be available as a payment option on most StubHub purchases for tickets to sporting events and concerts. Ticket purchases on StubHub ranging from $99-17,500 can be spread over three, six or 12 months, with interest rates ranging from 10-30% APR. Affirm Manager of Consumer Communication Ellen Kiehl said, "If a customer wants to buy tickets to the Super Bowl, we pay StubHub upfront for the cost of those tickets. That risk is completely removed from the merchant, and then we work with the consumer on collecting."

Affirm recently found that for 78% of football fans, cost was the biggest barrier to attending the Super Bowl. Kiehl: "But the majority said that if they were offered a pay-over-time option, they'd be really excited about it and much more willing to consider that cost."
