Nets' Dinwiddie Launching Investment Vehicle Around All-Star Bid

Nets G Spencer Dinwiddie today plans to launch a "token-based investment vehicle in conjunction with a bid to get selected to his first career All-Star Game." The blockchain-based DREAM Fan Shares since October has planned to "sell 90 SD8 coins that will enable Dinwiddie to collect" up to $13.5M of his guaranteed three-year, $34M contract upfront, as a business loan. But Dinwiddie "ran into some disagreements with the NBA about this first-of-its-kind initiative." After multiple meetings and calls involving the league and NBPA, Dinwiddie said that the two sides "came to a compromise" in which the "player option element would be removed" (FORBES.com, 1/10).
