Laugh Track: Show Me What You Got

The “Weekend Update” segment on NBC’s “SNL” featured cast member Michael Che reporting “free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick held a private workout today to show that he could still play on an NFL team.” Che: “But if he can’t he’ll have to settle for playing with the New York Giants” (“SNL,” NBC, 11/16).

The opening skit for NBC’s “SNL” centered around the presidential impeachment hearings with former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, with cast member Kenan Thompson portraying Browns DE Myles Garrett carrying a Steelers helmet into the hearing room. Garrett said, “I have seen enough. I am tired of being falsely accused. You see what had happened was, I saw another player who had lost his helmet somehow and I thought, ‘Oh, he should be wearing a helmet.' So I attempted to put it back on his head.” Cast member Alex Moffat, playing Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), said, “Mr. Garrett, you are not on trial here.” Garrett: “Oh, I know. President Trump just pardoned me too for the war crimes. He said I could bring a helmet to Afghanistan and just go nuts” (“SNL,” NBC, 11/16).
