Network Morning Shows Have Their Say On Myles Garret Incident

The network morning shows went hard on the Myles Garrett incident, with NBC's Hoda Kotb saying it was "one of the most disturbing pieces of sports video I’ve ever seen." NBC's Craig Melvin said the video of Garrett hitting Steelers QB Mason Rudolph with his own helmet is “something you’re going to see everywhere today." Melvin: "Frankly, you’ll probably see it for years to come” ("Today," NBC, 11/15). CBS’ Vladimir Duthiers notes Garrett “could face a record-long suspension after what some are calling one of the ugliest moments in the history of the NFL” (“CBS This Morning,” 11/15). ABC’s Michael Strahan: “It would be pretty hard-pressed to think that he wouldn’t be out for the rest of the season." However, Strahan noted the incident is "out of the character for what we know him to be” (“GMA,” ABC, 11/15).

News outlets from around the country also gave their take on last night's incident.

  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL: "Garrett's season should be over." However, that is "not enough." It should also be a "suspension that extends into next season."
  • YAHOO SPORTS: The NFL "should suspend" Garrett for the "rest of the 2019 season, if not longer."
  • PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: "Anything less than a rest-of-season suspension won’t be good enough."
  • THE ATHLETIC: Garrett "can’t play another snap this year."
  • N.Y. POST: "NFL Must Make An Example Out Of Myles Garrett."
  • Newark STAR-LEDGER: "Suspend him for this season, suspend him for next season. Call it indefinite."
