The FIFA Council at a meeting in Shanghai today decided that the '30 World Cup "bidding process will be launched" in '22, and the "hosting vote will take place at the congress of all soccer nations" in '24 (AP, 10/24). The FIFA Council also selected China as "host of the inaugural edition" of the Club World Cup in '21 (AP, 10/24).

A debate about the Crew's new stadium yesterday saw four incumbent Columbus City Council members up for reelection fending off "attacks from three challengers" about the cost of the project and "city tax breaks for developers" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 10/24).
