Avalanche Hold Outdoor Watch Party Amid RSN Impasse

The Avalanche opened their season last night against the Flames, but a 17×10-foot projector screen posted outside Pepsi Center's grand atrium was "among the only certain places in Denver a hockey fan could watch the game" due to Altitude Sports' carriage impasse with Comcast, DirecTV and Dish. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Dir of Marketing Communications Becca Villanueva said that KSE "will 'play it by ear' regarding future outdoor viewing parties for Avalanche and Nuggets games should Altitude Sports TV negotiations continue into the regular season" (DENVER POST, 10/4). The Avalanche ran a Jumbotron message "imploring fans to lobby the three TV companies to #DontBlockMyAvs" (Colorado SPRINGS GAZETTE, 10/4).
