Pac Pro Football Begins Inaugural Free-Agent Camp Today

Pacific Pro Football today kicks off a "three-day camp for approximately 20 free agents" at Whittier College ahead of the league's planned start next summer. Pac Pro CEO Jamie Hemann said that the "non-contact, no pads camp will allow players recently released from NFL rosters and practice squads to refine their skills." The league is headed up by agents Don Yee and former NFLer Ed McCaffrey (AP, 9/16).

This comes amid "mounting support in NFL football operations departments for a new in-season player combine and training service." Yee envisions the camp "growing into something that happens regularly during a season, as a combine of sorts for pro personnel directors who have to replenish rosters on the fly" (CBSSPORTS.com, 9/15).
