Blake Griffin Talks Stand-Up Comedy, Athlete Press Conferences

Pistons F Blake Griffin and "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon talked about the tumultuous offseason in the NBA, with Griffin saying he heard about the Clippers signing F Kawhi Leonard via Twitter “just like everybody else.” Fallon noted this month Griffin is hosting “Comedy by Blake,” his annual fundraiser for the Team Griffin Foundation, at the “Just For Laughs” comedy festival. Griffin said he “kind of stumbled into" stand-up comedy. While he was at "Just For Laughs" in Montreal about four years ago, the director of the festival asked him, "Do you want to host the 'Midnight Surprise Show’?" Griffin: “It turned out I had to do 10 minutes.”

Griffin said of postgame press conferences, "I feel like people always think athletes are really stupid. And it's not that we're stupid, it's just that we’ve just exercised for two hours and there's not really enough oxygen in our brains to actually be able to answer questions” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 7/17).
