Scooter Brand Spin Backs Wood Brothers' Esports Program

Ford-owned electric scooter operator Spin this morning announced a new sponsorship of Wood Brothers Racing’s esports program, in one of the first new team deals around NASCAR’s esports presence. Terms were not disclosed. Spin will be the primary sponsor of both Wood Brothers cars in the 16-race Heat Pro League, which starts this weekend, in addition to sponsoring Wood Brothers’ cars in the eNASCAR Peak Antifreeze iRacing Series. Spin co-Founder & President Euwyn Poon said that the brand is looking to grow awareness and is intrigued by the idea of doing so via virtual racing and esports more broadly.

Several of the teams competing in the eNASCAR Heat Pro League do have sponsors, but it appears that most if not all -- aside from Wood Brothers -- are using current sponsors of their real cars. Spin’s deal with Wood Brothers is completely new, although Wood Brothers has deep ties to parent company Ford. S.F.-based Spin has given out its scooters to Ford’s NASCAR drivers.
