Stronach Group Disputes Baltimore Mayor Over Preakness Plan

Stronach Group is disputing Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh's claim that she had "worked out a plan with them to keep the Preakness Stakes" at Pimlico Race Course. Pugh yesterday said that her team "thought they had worked out a way to maintain the signature race at Pimlico." She then said Stronach “walked away from negotiations.” Stronach Group said that there was "never a deal." The company in a statement said, "At no point in time was a proposal presented or discussed that had any feasible financial plans for the City, State or for the thoroughbred racing industry" (BALTIMORE SUN, 3/22).
