MLB has signed a four-year contract extension with T-Mobile, continuing the league’s relationship with one of its most prominent sponsors through the '22 season. The company, which began its alignment with MLB in '13, will continue as the league’s official wireless sponsor and as the title sponsor of the annual Home Run Derby. In the new term, T-Mobile also will add rights as the official wireless sponsor of Little League Int'l, representing the first new deal to come out of a new joint sponsorship agreement between MLB and Little League. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal extends a growing presence within baseball for T-Mobile following last fall’s 25-year deal to take over naming rights for what was Safeco Field. T-Mobile, which last renewed its MLB sponsorship in '16, next week will give its customers a free year of the MLB.TV out-of-market package and premium features of the MLB At Bat mobile app, repeating an offer made last year. The telecom brand will again hold a contest for a free trip to this summer’s All-Star Game in Cleveland.
