Late Night Hosts Hit On Boston-L.A. Rivalry During World Series

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel touched on the World Series last night, where he noted some of his "closest and most obnoxious friends are from Boston." Kimmel: "The L.A.-Boston rivalry is a thing mostly because of Lakers and Celtics. But this is baseball, it’s a new chapter, I guess, because not only is Boston anti -our teams now, they're even attacking our neighborhood.” The broadcast then aired a Boston-area news report on L.A. where it called Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood “dumps," as well as a “cigarette butt in Eddie Murphy's footprint” on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Kimmel: “If you're going to insult Hollywood, you could find a lot worse things than a cigarette butt on Eddie Murphy's star. We have crackhead clowns making balloon animals out there, we got Spider-Men with hypodermic needles sticking out of their tights” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 10/24).

Last night’s edition of NBC’s “The Tonight Show” aired the recurring segment, “Goodnight News,” where host Jimmy Fallon read rhymes to a rolled up newspaper to help it fall asleep. Fallon: “Goodnight, the L.A. Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, it’s the battle of Bean Town versus The Land of Botox” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 10/8).
