USMNT Faces Pro-Colombia Crowd For Friendly In Tampa

Last night's Colombia-U.S. men's soccer friendly at Raymond James Stadium drew an announced 38,631 fans -- a record for the USMNT in Tampa -- though "Colombia fans made up the majority" of the crowd. The "previous record of 31,547 was set" in '07 against Ecuador. Fans of Los Cafeteros chanted, cheered and "sang the Colombia national anthem with pride" during their country's 4-2 win, and there was "no visible hostility toward U.S. players." A home game "filled with supporters for the opposing side" is "largely expected when the U.S. faces a South American team in Florida" (PROSOCCERUSA.com, 10/12).
