Austin Awaits Ruling In Lawsuit That Could Affect MLS Future

Franklin County (Ohio) Judge Jeffrey Brown yesterday heard arguments for and against dismissing a lawsuit that "could affect Austin's chances of landing" an MLS franchise. Brown "did not rule on a motion to dismiss" filed by defendants Precourt Sports Ventures and MLS. He said that a "decision would be forthcoming." The suit, brought by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the city of Columbus, "seems to be the only thing holding up MLS from officially announcing" that the Crew will move to Austin (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 9/5). The suit “bases its argument on Ohio’s Art Modell Law” (BIZJOURNALS.com, 9/4).
