The Union hired Ernst Tanner, who "spent the last five years as the director of Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg's academy," as the club's new Sporting Dir. He will be introduced today, but sources said that he "won't officially start" until mid-to-late September "because of visa and immigration paperwork." Tanner replaces Earnie Stewart, who agreed to become USMNT GM back in June (PHILLY.com, 8/8).
