NFLPA Acquires Stake In Streaming Video Startup SportsCastr

The NFLPA, through its OneTeam Collective business accelerator, has acquired a minority equity stake in SportsCastr, a N.Y.-based streaming video startup that allows user to be their own color commentators. In the deal, active and former NFL players will use SportsCaster to provide live commentary across various pro and college events. ACE Media, the NFLPA’s content and production arm, will work with the company to produce NFL and other athlete-driven content on the SportsCastr platform. SportsCastr also becomes an official NFLPA licensee.

The company is the eighth active NFLPA partner secured through the OneTeam Collective. Financial terms were not disclosed, but deal terms around the OneTeam Collective typically involve group player rights in exchange for equity. Prior SportsCastr investors have included NBA Commissioner Emeritus David Stern, Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim and Redskins TE Vernon Davis.
