The renovations to the southwest corner of Jordan-Hare Stadium are "nearing completion and are expected to be finished in time" for Auburn's home football opener. The stadium has "been in the midst" of a $40M facelift since the spring (AL.com, 7/26).

The Austin City Council "could hold a special meeting next week to take its first crack at a proposal that calls for using public land to lure" MLS to the city. The proposed meeting "would precede a make-or-break City Council discussion about the issue Aug. 9" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 7/27).

Sources said that Activision Blizzard is "finalizing agreements for two Overwatch League expansion slots with organizations representing Paris and Guangzhou, China." More teams are "expected to join the league before Season 2" (ESPN.com, 7/26).
