NFL, Players' Union Set To Meet In N.Y. Over Anthem Issue

Representatives from the NFL and the NFLPA today "have a meeting scheduled" in N.Y. as "part of their ongoing discussions about the issue of player protests," according to a source. The meeting is "expected to be a smaller group than one that met" at Commissioner Roger Goodell's office last October to "discuss the same issue." That meeting "included dozens of players and team and league executives" (ESPN.com, 7/27). 

Meanwhile, sources said that free agent S Eric Reid's "complaint against the Bengals -- stemming from questions" team Owner Mike Brown asked about national anthem protests during Reid’s visit with the team -- will go before an arbitrator on Tuesday" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 7/27).
