Michigan State Expected To Remove AD Beekman's Interim Tag

Michigan State today "will take the interim tag away from Bill Beekman's title" and name him permanent AD, according to sources. Beekman has been interim AD "since Mark Hollis stepped aside" in January, and he has served as the MSU BOT's VP & Secretary since '08. MSU "has not made Beekman available to reporters" during his brief tenure. Beekman "takes over a 25-sport athletic department that had 713 athletes and accounted" for $104M in revenue in '16-17 (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 7/14). Beekman's promotion is "expected to be announced at a special meeting" of trustees. Sources said that he has "impressed coaches and most staffers," as well as the BOT, and is "viewed as bringing community and stability that seemingly had been lost" (DETROIT NEWS, 7/14).
