Fox Sports Touts MLB Ratings On RSNs With PR Stunt In N.Y.

Fox Sports also is using billboards to promote MLB viewership on RSNsFox Sports

Fox Sports is touting the strength of its local MLB ratings with a marketing blitz that includes a hot dog giveaway today in N.Y. Starting at 12:30pm ET, Fox Sports will position two hot dog stands outside five ad agencies: Carat, OMD/Optimum, UM, Spark/Starcom and Horizon. One stand will have YES Network and Fox Sports signage and will give out free jumbo foot-long hot dogs. The second stand will be made up to represent primetime programming and will hand out much smaller cocktail franks. The idea is to show the ratings disparity between MLB games on RSNs and primetime programming. Fans consumed 6.9 billion minutes of Yankees games on YES last season, more than the top 11 primetime shows combined.

“From April through September, there is simply no better reach vehicle for marketers than Major League Baseball on home team regional sports networks,” said Home Team Sports Exec VP Craig Sloan. Fox-owned HTS sells national advertising for RSNs.
