Whistle Sports Closes On A $28M Series D Funding Round

Youth-focused sports media brand Whistle Sports has closed on a $28M Series D funding round, led by global investment company Aser. The round also included investment from Liberty Media, Emil Capital, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s WndrCo, and others. Aser, which has offices in N.Y., London and Singapore, is led by Andrea Radrizzani, and through the company he has invested in Leeds United, Eleven Sports and is a founding partner of MP & Silva.

The deal follows a $27.5M Series C round early last year, and the latest funds will be used to expand Whistle Sports’ offerings of free and original content, as well as international expansion. “We are looking forward to partnering with their invaluable global network and the key relationships they possess in important markets in Asia, Europe and around the world,” said Whistle Sports Founder & CEO John West. Overall, Whistle Sports has raised nearly $100M to date, and the company has an aggregated social audience of more than 450 million subscribers, fans and followers.
