Disney Raises Bid For 21st Century Fox' Assets To Nearly $72B

Disney has "raised its bid for Twenty-First Century Fox's movie and television assets" to $71.3B. The new deal is up from Disney's $52.4B offer in December, and "rivaling" Comcast's $65B "all-cash bid last week" (CNBC.com, 6/20).

Before news of Disney's new offer, Fox today was planning to consider Comcast's offer. The Fox board could take Comcast’s offer "seriously and agree to share information on its businesses," which "could lead to negotiations between Comcast and Fox for a deal." But Fox also "could delay a July 10 shareholders meeting where Fox shareholders are expected to vote on the Disney deal." The July 10 deadline has "narrowed the window of time for Comcast and Fox to talk about an agreement" (PHILLY.com, 6/19).
