Drone Racing League Inks Deal With Cox Communications

The Drone Racing League has signed a one-year sponsorship agreement with Cox Communications in which the telecom company will be featured during the DRL Allianz World Championship season and with drone pilot Nick Willard. The deal will also involve a custom commercial spot produced by DRL, digital content creation, Cox branding at DRL events and freestyle events featuring Willard in a Cox-branded uniform. Cox will use the sponsorship to promote its high-speed WiFi service. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the agreement was done without an outside agency. Cox Exec VP and Chief Marketing & Sales Officer Mark Greatrex said the league is an “undeniable reminder of the speed and performance excellence required by today’s connected devices."
