Minn. United's Stadium Could Be Exempt From Noise Regulations

The St. Paul City Council today is "expected to vote to exempt games and other events" at Minnesota United's Allianz Field from noise limitations. If the ordinance passes, the team "will be able to play" past 10:00pm CT in the event of overtime or rain delays, and "most stadium events will not require a sound level variance from the city." Nearby residents have said that this "will destroy their summertime weekend nights," and they have complained that Minnesota United is "already getting too many concessions, including a tax break from the state." The 19,400-seat stadium is expected to open in '19 (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 2/14).
