UNLV AD Desiree Reed-Francois On Starting Job, Living On Dorm

UNLV AD Desiree Reed-Francois, who has been on the job just six months, talked with SBD/SBJ Exec Editor Abe Madkour about the challenges of her first days on the job. “I’ve got it all figured out,” she said, with a laugh. Reed-Francois has gained notice in the industry for her decision to live in a dorm during her first seven weeks on the job. “I got to know our students,” she said. “And I wanted to send a message to our staff that we were going to be aligned with the institution, we were going to be humble and we were going to work really hard.” She also talked about the challenges of taking over the top job, the value of mentors and the importance of not making snap decisions.
