Laugh Track: Subway Series

NBC’s Jimmy Fallon said when the Cavaliers were in N.Y. to play the Knicks on Monday, LeBron James and “his teammates took the subway ... and they got the full New York experience.” The broadcast aired James' video of the ride, with him saying the passenger next to him was “trippin’.” The passenger then looked at the camera and said, “Can you not?” Fallon: “To be fair, ‘Can you not?’ is the most polite thing a New Yorker has ever said on the subway.” Fallon: “Sweden pulled off a huge upset over Italy to qualify for the World Cup. Their celebration was pretty crazy.” The broadcast showed video of the Swedish national team storming the broadcast desk next to the field after their victory, celebrating wildly and crushing the desk in the process. Fallon: “It was a mixed day for Sweden because their soccer team wins, but then an IKEA desk collapses on live TV” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 11/14).

Michael Strahan
appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” last night where he talked about the 1-8 Giants, the team he used to play for. Strahan: “It pains me to say this and I hate to do it because I used to play there but we just suck.” Strahan gave a nod to the show’s Philadelphia-based house band, The Roots, and said, “I give it up to the Philadelphia Eagles. Well done, guys.” Fallon said of Strahan, “That’s a classy individual right there.” But then Strahan added, “Enjoy it for now, until you lose in the playoffs” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 11/14).

Last night’s edition of NBC’s “The Tonight Show” featured the segment “Tonight Show Superlatives” and focused on the four remaining drivers in NASCAR’s “The Chase” who are racing this weekend for the championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Fallon read several “superlatives” about the drivers, and then the four -- Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. -- appeared on-stage to read their own “superlatives” about Fallon (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 11/14).
