Univ. of Tennessee law professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds in a special to USA TODAY writes under the header, "Hollywood, ESPN And Other Debacles: Why Can't Our Ruling Class Do Its Job?" Player protests have been "poison for ratings," yet the NFL is "unwilling to stop them." ESPN's on-air talent "seems determined to pretend that they’re on MSNBC," despite having an audience that just "wants to hear sports news." And before the Harvey Weinstein revelations, Hollywood was "happy to talk about politics, too, and lecture the rest of America."
