Lions Denounce Use Of Modified Logo In Unite The Right Protest

The Lions yesterday issued a statement saying they detest and disavow any use or implied use of the Detroit Lions logo or any of our marks in association with the event this past Saturday in Charlottesville." An image published Saturday showed a man at the violent rally "holding a shield with a logo that appears similar" to the Lions' mark. But unlike the blue Lions logo, the lion in the photo is "half red and half blue and includes some stars." This comes after the Red Wings "swiftly disassociated themselves from the use of the slightly altered winged-wheel logo" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 8/16).
