Inauguration Events Highlight Trump's Ties To Sports World

President-elect Trump's ties to sports are on full display ahead of today's inauguration. Patriots Owner Robert Kraft is in DC for the "festivities, and he (along with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick) got a shout-out" from Trump at last night's donor dinner. Trump said of of Sunday's AFC title game, "Good luck Bob. Your friend Tom just called, he feels good. He called to congratulate us, he feels good. Good luck. You're going to do great." During Trump's campaign, he read a letter from Belichick and said that he "had Brady's vote on the eve of the election" (BOSTON HERALD, 1/20). Other "NFL big-wigs" at the dinner included Redskins Owner Dan Snyder and Broncos Exec VP/Football Operations & GM John Elway (TWITTER.com, 1/19).

Basketball HOFer Bobby Knight "fired up the crowd" at the Texas State Society's Black Tie & Boots Presidential Inaugural Ball last night in Oxon Hill, Md. Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman and P Tanner Roark were "spotted" at last night's inauguration event hosted by Capitol File and Artists & Athletes in DC. One of Ivanka Trump's guests this weekend is Daska Zhukova, wife of EPL club Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich (POLITICO.com, 1/20).

Meanwhile, North Texas-based GoVision is providing LED screens for the festivities. GoVision President Chris Curtis said, "We have 11 screens that are part of the official swearing-in and then we have some other activities around town" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 1/17).
