Laugh Track: Election Year Blues

HBO’s John Oliver said, “This is actually our final show of the year, and normally on our last show, we mash up elements from the season and we dance around in the studio. But that doesn't really seem appropriate tonight, not just because of the election but because 2016 has been an uncommonly shitty year. From the ongoing crisis in Syria to Zika to Ryan Lochte being a douche” (“Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” HBO, 11/13).

The “Weekend Update” news segment on NBC’s “SNL” featured cast member Michael Che reporting, “Democrats got too cocky. They were like the Golden State Warriors winning 73 games. They won so often that they didn't think they could lose again, but then they got they ass kicked in Ohio” (“SNL,” NBC, 11/12).

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel said, “Trump said his top three priorities are immigration, health care, and big-league jobs. Not just jobs, but big-league jobs, which I have always wanted to play professional baseball, so I think that is fantastic” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 11/11).
