Laugh Track: The Last 100 Days

NBC’s Jimmy Fallon said of the Rio Games being 100 days away, “That’s right, it’s less than 100 days until people at home in sweatpants eating potato chips are like, ‘I could do that.’ … Actually yesterday, athletes from Team USA kicked off the countdown to the Summer Olympics right here in Times Square. It got weird when Times Square Elmo said, ‘Psst, need some tips for passing your drug test?’” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 4/29).

CBS’ Stephen Colbert opened last night’s broadcast of CBS’ “Late Show” with a skit in which he announced that he is not running for president, but that it won’t stop him from naming a running mate and a new Supreme Court Justice. Colbert: “I am proud to announce that I have decided that my nominee for the Supreme Court will be former starting guard for your Chicago Bulls, Mr. Michael Jordan. … M.J. wishes he could be here, but unfortunately we have never met, and he doesn’t know this is happening” (“Late Show,” CBS, 4/28).

Former NBAer Baron Davis was featured on NBC’s “Last Call With Carson Daly.” He promoted his latest film project, a documentary on the Drew League, an elite summer league in L.A. Davis: “Doing this project was very special because I got my start in the Drew League. I started when I was 13 years old and it gave me an opportunity to be on the court with guys who were playing professional overseas and guys who were really playing for stakes.” The Drew “finally started getting this recognition around the NBA lockout, and to see Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, all those guys who are considered like basketball gods and legends in their prime, to come back to the Drew and to not be from L.A. … that really meant something for the league and put in on a whole other pedestal” (“Last Call With Carson Daly,” NBC, 4/29).
