Goodell: NFL "Moving Forward" After Brady Suspension Reinstated

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell appeared on “CBS This Morning” via satellite from Chicago, site of tonight’s NFL Draft, and discussed the reinstatement of Tom Brady’s four-game Deflategate suspension. CBS’ Charlie Rose asked if Goodell felt “vindicated” that a court reinstated the ban. He replied, “It was the right decision according with the Court of Appeals. I think this is the end of the matter and we're moving forward and focusing on the Draft.” Goodell noted he has spoken to Patriots Owner Robert Kraft and President Jonathan Kraft “on several occasions, on several different matters” since the suspension initially was handed down last year. He said, “We are moving forward. We have a lot to do.”

The league has spent $20M in legal fees for the Deflategate investigation, and Goodell said, “This wasn't about the actual violation. This was about the rights that we had negotiated in our collective bargaining agreement … that we wanted to make sure that we retained” (“CBS This Morning,” 4/28).
