Sources: MLB Forms Committee To Search For Bud Selig's Successor
MLB will announce today at its owner meetings in N.Y. that it has formed a committee aimed at identifying candidates to succeed Commissioner Bud Selig, according to sources. The 79-year-old Selig has planned to retire when his current contract expires in January, despite three prior reversals of retirement plans. Earlier this year, Selig said “there’s a lot of things going on” behind the scenes with regard to finding his successor, but the creation of a working panel lends a new amount of formality and structure to the process. Recently, some team owners have grown restless for more urgency on the search.
