Cubs Celebrate Wrigley's 100th Anniversary With Throwback Game

The Cubs during today's home game against the D-Backs will celebrate Wrigley Field's 100th anniversary with "special pregame ceremonies, featuring past Cubs greats." The Cubs will wear the uniforms of the Chicago Federal League team, the "first occupants of the ballpark," while the D-Backs will wear K.C. Packers uniforms (Illinois DAILY HERALD, 4/23). The "buzz should be back" at the ballpark "for one day at least." Baseball HOFers Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Fergie Jenkins and Andre Dawson will be on hand, as will Pro Football HOFers Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers (CSNCHICAGO.com, 4/23). The first 30,000 fans in attendance will receive a replica 1914 Chicago Federals jersey, "and the first 10,000 fans will get a birthday cupcake" (MLB.com, 4/23).
